OPERATING WINDOW
Volta tyres perform optimally at 90–110°C tyre surface temperature. Below 80°C: graining risk. Above 120°C: blistering and thermal degradation.
DEGRADATION MODES
Graining — surface rubber pills up in cold conditions. Clears after 3–5 laps. Blistering — subsurface overheating, permanent damage. Cannot recover.
UNDERCUT vs OVERCUT
Undercut — pit before your rival, use fresh tyre pace to jump them in the pit window. Overcut — stay out longer, use their tyre deg against them.
PIT STOP LOSS
Each pit stop costs approx 22–24 seconds stationary plus in/out lap pace loss. Modern F1 pit stops average 2.4 seconds tyre change.
MANDATORY RULE
AWC requires drivers use at least 2 different dry compounds during a dry race. 3 compounds nominated per event by Volta.
TYRE MANAGEMENT
Drivers use tyre saving techniques: reduced kerb usage, smooth steering inputs, brake bias adjustment, and high ride height to reduce rear tyre loading.
